President Edgar Lungu has urged Citizens to make the Country, a Great Nation by Preaching and Practising Patriotism, and remaining true to its National Values and Principles. 

The Head of State said these are Morality and Ethics; National Unity; Social Justice, Human Dignity and Sustainable Development. 

He noted with concern that a Number of Nationals are lacking in greater sense of Patriotism.

President Lungu said some use their Positions for Personal advancement while others work with foreign nationals to rob the country of its wealth. 

He stated that together Citizens must, therefore, always uphold the Spirit of Nationhood and Patriotism.


He Explained that in this way, they will be providing a peaceful, secure and stable Political, Socio-Economic and cultural environment to achieve prosperity for all.

President Lungu said the Peace and Unity the Nation has enjoyed for the last 52 Years under the National motto of “One Zambia, One Nation”, is as a result of the respect and application of the Country’s Values as a People.

He has appealed to Citizens to Collectively resolve to Achieve their Aspirations for the Zambia they want as Articulated in the National Vision to become a Prosperous Middle-income Country by 2030.

However, United Party For National Development, Spokesman, Charles Kakoma has told 5fm Radio that his Party will not attend, the National Event expected to be graced by Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni who arrived Yesterday in the Country.


This is President Lungu’s Message to Mark this Year’s 52 Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to be tolerant towards each other, regardless of Political, Ideological, Religious and Cultural Inclinations.
