The United Party for National Development has refused to take responsibility over the throwing of stones at Police officers that happened at the High Court and Supreme Court grounds yesterday.

Party Secretary General Steven Katuka has defended his members blaming the Police for provoking the situation by throwing tear gas canisters at them.

Mr. Katuka has told 5fm radio that their enemies whom he did not name may have taken advantage of the volatile situation to cause damage to vehicles belonging to lawyers representing the opposition political party.

Meanwhile 5fm Radio understands that 67 UPND Members were picked at the courts of law and Mr. Katuka says efforts are underway to get police bonds.

Following that incident the Judiciary has banned political party supporters from attending Court sessions.

Judiciary Chief Administrative Officer Nalishebo Imataa said the damage caused to property at the Court premises yesterday was unfortunate.

And Mr. Katuka does not agree with the directive questioning how Court officers will be able to know whether or not anyone going to the Courts of Law belongs to whichever political parties.
