The Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) has reminded all Agro-Chemical Companies and any other Persons Dealing in Pesticides to Sell only Registered Chemicals.

Agency Principal Information and Communication Officer, Irene Chipili, says under the Environmental Management Act Number 12 of 2011 they are Mandated to Control the Sale, Distribution, Import, Export, Manufacturing, Change of Composition or Dealing in any Manner of Pesticide or Toxic Substances.


And Mrs. Chipili has advised Farmers that are Spraying their Fields against Army Worms to Safeguard Human Health and the Environment by using Personal Protective Clothing when Handling Pesticides.

She explained that a Pesticide or Toxic Substance must be Disposed of in Accordance with Legal Requirements and Conditions.

Mrs. Chipili has told 5fm Radio in an Emailed Statement that the Agency remains Committed to Providing Technical Support and Guidance in Curbing the problem of Army Worms and other Environmental issues in Zambia.
