President EDGAR LUNGU yesterday commissioned Chilenje Level 1 Hospital in Lusaka district.
The hospital was constructed with support from the government of Japan through Japan International Corporation Agency at a total cost of 100 Million kwacha.
The upgrading of the facility has taken better health services to the door step of the people of Chilenje.
Chilenje Urban Health center was serving over 77 thousand residents but with the upgrade, the hospital will now serve over 350 thousand residents from across the city of Lusaka.
And President LUNGU launched ‘Healthy Cities’ concept and has since directed the responsible parties to roll it out to the rest of the country.
Chilenje Level 1 Hospital will among other benefits take quality health services closer to the people as it will further promote healthy lifestyles thereby preventing diseases for locals.
About 350 medical health workers have already been deployed to Chilenje Level 1 hospital.
President LUNGU will again commission Matero Referral Level 1 Hospital on Saturday this week.
