The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has informed Lusaka Magistrate GREENWELL MALUMANI that the State was entering a NOLLE PROSEQUI on one of the two charges slapped on UPND Leader HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.

This is a charge where Mr. HICHILEMA was accused with disobeying lawful order to give way to a Presidential Motorcade on the Mongu-Limulunga road during the Kuomboka Ceremony last month.

This means “the State will no longer prosecute Mr. HICHILEMA and his five co-accused persons on that particular charge” but it the State may at anytime re-arrest the accused.

However Lawyers Representing Mr. HICHILEMA raised a number of arguments pertaining to the state deciding to discontinue the charge.

Magistrate MALUMANI was yet to make a ruling on another matter where Mr. HICHILEMA and his co-accused persons is accused of using insulting language.
