Minister Of Finance Felix Mutati has disclosed that a Legal Battle between Energy Regulations Board and the Mining Sector over the 2014 Upwards Adjustment of Electricity Tariffs has been Discontinued.


Following a Tariff increase by the Energy Regulator, Energy Regulation Board in April 2014 and another increase Effective 1 January 2016 Mining Firms Challenged the increase in the Tariffs in the High Court by way of a Judicial Review.


Mr Mutati says Dialogue is on-going with Mining Firms to start Paying for Power at an Average 0.9 Cents a Kilowatt Hour from about 0.4 Cents a Kilowatt Hour.


Speaking During a Meeting with Civil Society Organizations, Mr Mutati says Zambia is on Course towards Securing the 1.6 Million United Dollar International Monitory Fund Bailout Package to be implemented in Three Years upon Approval.


A Delegation from the International Monetory Fund by the End of this Month and Mr. Mutati assured that the Program will be Implemented in an Efficient and Transparent Manner.
