Archbishop TELESPHORE MPUNDU has been re-elected as the president of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops during the plenary meeting held at kapingila house from 6th to 11th of November, 2017.

This is according to Conference Communications Director Father WINFIELD KUNDA, who issued a statement today.

Retired reverend GEORGE LUNGU of Chipata Diocese is the vice taking over from Bishop ALICK BANDA of Ndola Diocese. Others elected are reverend EVANS CHINYAMA CHINYEMBA of Mongu diocese, and IGNATIUS CHAMA of kasama diocese.

Reverend CHARLES KASONDE of Solwezi Diocese is the alternative member.

The conference consists of 11 Diocesan Bishops and One Auxiliary bishop who are in charge of all catholic dioceses in Zambia.

Archbishop MPUNDU was expected to step down by many more especially with a rift that developed following his strong criticism of the patriotic front leadership during the arrest of upnd leader, Mr. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
