Airtel Networks Zambia PLC, Mtn Zambia Limited and Zamtel have been Penalized a Total of 3.1 Million Kwacha by the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA).
Mtn and Zamtel were Fined 600 Thousand Kwacha each for Failing to Meet the Set Parameters on Call Set up success Rate and 600 Thousand Kwacha each for Failure to Meet the Set Parameter on HTTP success Long-Ins.
The Authority also Fined Airtel 450 Thousand Kwacha for Failure to meet the set Parameters on Call set up success Rate and 300 Thousand Kwacha for Failure to Meet the Set Parameter HTTP success Long-Ins.
This is According to A Media Statement Availed to 5FM Radio by Authority Manager, Corporate Communications; Ms. Ngabo Nankonde.
Ms. Nankonde said the Authority Arrived at this Decision following the Quality of Service Inspection, Followed by the Public Inquiry which was Held on November 28, 2017 at which the Mobile Operators made Submissions and Presentations.
