It is regrettable that another parliamentary by-election will be held amidst economic hardship in the country following the death of the United Party for National Development (UPND) Katuba Member of Parliament, Patricia Mwashingwele this morning.
Sadly death is not avoidable it is against this background stakeholders are calling for safeguards.
Last month two Parliamentary by-elections namely the roan and Bahati Polls were held at great cost that raised concern among some stakeholders.
Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive Director Chimfwembe Mweenge has reiterated the need for the stakeholders to reform the electoral act in order to devise more economically sustainable methods for replacing leaders.
Mwenge has observed that Zambia is still a developing Country hence requires a system that serves funds that can be used for other vital needs.
