Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Christopher Yaluma, has indicated that the country is still not exporting honey to South Africa since the ban on the product was imposed.
In August last year, South Africa restricted market access for Zambia’s pure honey with immediate effect following a consignment allegedly from Zambia being contaminated with a disease called American foulbrood.
Speaking in an interview with 5fm news, Yaluma says investigations are almost being concluded and Zambia will soon start exporting pure honey to South Africa.
Meanwhile the minister has however disclosed that the country is in the process of exporting honey to China worth 90 million United States dollars per quarter.
