The Council of Churches in Zambia has stressed the need to ensure the proper application of existing laws as this will enhance democracy and governance systems in the country.
Speaking during 5fm’s Burning Issue Programme the C-C-Z General Secretary notes with concern that there has been a selective application of the Public Order Act by Law Enforcement Agencies.
Father Emmanuel Chikoya says there might actually be no need to facilitate the National Dialogue or address the legal reforms if existing laws are effectively implemented.
Meanwhile, Father Chikoya clarified that the church was looking forward to the PF’s attendance at the launch of the dialogue process as all date adjustments were made to accommodate everyone.
He however, reveals that the church is having ongoing closed-door meetings with the Head of State and other political players as it will be seen from the successful National Dialogue.
