CHONGWE DISTRICT TO HAVE 38 FISH PONDS

The patriotic front Chongwe Central Ward Councilor Juvenalis Mulimbika has revealed that plans to construct two fish ponds in each of the 19 wards of Chongwe district are underway.

 

Zambia has a fish deficit of 80, 000 Tonnes per year and government is encouraging citizens to venture into fish farming to seal the huge deficit. 

 

Mulimbika told 5fm news that the initiative to construct thirty-eight fish ponds in the district by the Chongwe Municipal council is aimed at promoting fish farming in view of combating poverty.

 

The civic leader adds that once the fish ponds project is actualized, it will provide a source of livelihood for the residents.
