BOWMAN

Water Development Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister, Denis Wanchinga has disclosed that about 340 million Kwacha is owed to water utility companies by various government institutions.

Dr Wanchinga regrets that, institutions such as the police service, the army and public hospitals have huge pending water bills which are impacting negatively on investments among water utility companies.

Meanwhile, critical water shortages continue to affect at least 26 thousand residents of Chongwe District.

The crisis is due to poor rainfall patterns experienced in the last rainy season.
