The Electoral Commission of Zambia has dispelled the perception that it is compromised stating that it is independent and not subject to any authority in the execution of its duties and mandate.
On Monday this week shortly after a meeting with E-C-Z with UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema accused the electoral body of failing to create a favourable electoral environment.
But in a statement issued to 5fm News ECZ Senior Public Relations Officer Senior Public Relation Officer Sylvia Bwalya says the commission has put in place conflict resolution committees and political parties liaison committees to discuss and resolve electoral conflicts at district and national level.
Bwalya says the commission is already on the ground in Sesheke constituency ahead of the 12th February 2019 by-election adding that, they are working in collaboration with the police in order to ensure violence-free polls.
