The government has been urged to reflect on how it has recently been utilizing the revenues generated from the mining industry in the country.
According to the Extractive Industries Transparency Alliance Initiative, the government collected close to 10 million u-s dollars in 2016 from the mining industry but wonders how the revenue was invested back in the mine catchment areas.
Organization National Coordinator, Mwiya Mwandawande says it is unacceptable for mining communities to be underdeveloped.
In an interview with 5fm news, Mr Mwandawande has stressed the need for the government to ensure that the revenues collected from the mines translate into social and economic development in the communities hosting the mining firms.
