Agriculture Minister, Micheal Katambo has indicated that there is a deficit in field extension officers across the country.
The current ratio is at one field extension officer to 1000 farmers when it is supposed to be at one field extension officer to 400 farmers.
To this effect, Katambo says the Ministry of Finance has been requested to mobilize sufficient funds which will enable more extension officers to be deployed across the country.
The Minister adds that Field Extension Officers are important as they sensitize farmers on engaging in good agriculture practices of growing high-value crops as well as climate change awareness.
