Minister of Transport And Communication Brian Mushimba has directed the compliance team to conduct checkups towards ensuring that companies that trade in bulk cargo comply with the Statutory Instrument.
The compliance team which comprises the Ministry of Transport and Communication, the Zambia Rail ways and Tanzania Zambia rail among other stakeholders is expected to monitor institutions that deal with bulk cargo.
Mr Mushimba expects compliance to achieve in six months time.
In the meantime, Tanzania Zambia Rail way Authority Managing Director Engineer Bruno Ching’andu says 315 out of 400 wagons have been rehabilitated through local use of local resources.
Engineer Ching’andu says the institution has also improved in business from 28, 000 metric tonnes in 2016 to 220, 000 metric tonnes in 2018.
