African Governments, Zambia inclusive have been urged to take a proactive approach in housing development in bid to safeguard the plight of the people.

Zambia has continued to under-fund the housing sector as evidenced in the allocations of 22 million kwacha representing 0.25 percent of the total 86.8 billion kwacha 2019 National Budget.

Further the Country is projected to have a housing deficit of 3.3 million by the year 2030 if adequate measures are not put in place.

East and southern Regional Housing Network Chairperson of  William Mude-walaga notes that, Civil Society Organizations can only complement housing development up to a certain level but that the Government has the overall responsibility.
