The opposition National Restoration Party-NAREP has advised the government to conduct comprehensive research before actualizing initiatives which have the potential to violate human rights.

The Ministry Of Transport and Communications has revealed that it will form a special joint cybercrime crack squad aimed at mitigating the abuse and illegal use of digital platforms amongst citizens.

Speaking in an interview with 5fm news, NAREP Secretary General Ezra Ngulube notes the need to monitor the cyberspace without infringing on human rights such as the freedom of expression.

And the Bloggers of Zambia Founder Richard Mulonga has reiterated that the crack squad must not be used to violate citizens’ rights as noted in the current trend where internet laws and regulations are used to curtail the civic space.
