The Zambia United Local Authorities Workers Union (ZULAWU) has disclosed that the number of workers who were recently suspended for alleged irregularities in the issuance of business and health permits has continued to escalate.
Recently the Lusaka City Council suspended 18 council workers for working as a team to issue suspected forged business and health permits and collecting money from unsuspecting clients.
The scam was unearthed during the last go slow by unionized workers which led to management deploying non-unionized staff to various revenue points.
ZULAWU President Kingsley Zulu has indicated that the investigation should also be extended to all councils.
