Kitwe District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu has issued a stern warning to saw millers and residents protesting over the alleged intended sell of ZAFFICO.
Speaking after touring the townships affected by the riots this morning, Mr Mpundu called on the concerned parties not to engage into violence as it deters development.
He said the riots witnessed in five townships of the city are endangering the lives of innocent members of the public.
Mr. Mpundu advised residents of Kitwe not to resort to violence but rather engage government where need be.
This morning sawmillers in Buchi, Chimwemwe, Kamitondo, Kawama and Race course Kamitondo residents took to the street over the alleged sell of ZAFFICO.
Meanwhile, Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe has clarified that ZAFFICO has not been sold as alleged by some people.
Mr Mwakalombe has told 5fm news that ZAFFICO is wholly in government hands and it has not been sold.
He has urged those protesting over the alleged sale to stop as the company is still in safe hands.
