President Edgar Lungu has urged Konkola Copper Mines to start producing its own power, as he reminded the mining firm on the need to honour its investment pledges in order to increase copper production.
Speaking when he met a delegation from K-C-M led by Vendanta Resources Group Chairman Anil Agarwal, President Lungu noted that in order to avoid disputes with power producers, the firm can emulate other companies who are already producing their own electricity.
And the President has advised the mining firm to prioritize dialogue with the government in resolving sector challenges.
In the meantime, KCM Chairman Anil Agarwal has hailed President Lungu’s commitment towards fostering national development and he reaffirmed the company’s commitment towards enhancing investments in Zambia.
