The Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has observed with regrets that despite the procurement process being one of the processes which is exposed to corruption, authorities have not done much to address the scourge at that level.
In an Interview with 5fm news T-I-Z Executive Director Wesley Chibamba has urged the law enforcement agencies to ensure that they rid the procurement process of corruption.
“Procurement is one the most vulnerable processes when it comes to issues of corruption. By the nature of it, I think even the amount of money involved in it, is quite substantial and it becomes a natural risk area but then, what is disheartening is the attention that is paid to such things,” Wesley Chibamba explained.
Meanwhile the T-I-Z Executive Director says the levels of tolerance for corrupt elements are alarming and have contributed to the increase in the cases of corruption including those involving high profiled government officials.
