The Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA is urging the law enforcers to adhere to the extension for payment period of road tax, which is running up to the 14th January 2019.
RTSA Information Officer, Roy Habalu says the agency is concerned that some motor vehicles in some places outside Lusaka are being impounded despite the extension for payment period for road tax being in existence.
“Given the volume of motorists that wants to renew their various road license, it was realized that maybe we should give them [motorists] an extension. The chief executive officer for RTSA has the power to give an extension and he gave an extension for 14 days. However our office has received information especially in places outside Lusaka, where this information is delayed in reaching that People are being asked to produce money in one way or another, they are being impounded, even when the extension is in existence, this should not be the case “He said.
Habalu explained that motorists should however, not mistake the extension for payment period of road tax, for insurance test certificate payment period among other road licenses.
