Opposition Green of Zambia Leader Peter Sinkamba has demanded that the government respect the Constitution by allowing elected Civic Leaders perform their Constitutional functions.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Vincent Mwale has declared that elected Mayors and Chairpersons of Councils across the Country will not be regarded as executive officials.
This means the Civic Leaders shall not perform executive powers for their term current term of office, as envisaged in the amended Constitution.
But Mr. Sinkamba has told 5fm radio that they will seek legal interventions to challenge patriotic front imperative disregard of the law.
Election of mayors and council chairpersons were submissions made during the Constitutional commissions from across the Country.
