The Engineering Institute of Zambia has noted with concern the low number of women pursuing engineering courses, particularly at tertiary level.

At the state-owned power utility company ZESCO, only less than 10 percent of women have taken up different engineering professions.

EIZ Research Fellow, Engineer Charity Chola has told 5fm news that there is need to encourage young girls and women to take interest in the engineering profession in order to stir women participation in male-dominated sectors.
