LUSAKA RESIDENTS SPEAK OUT ON ILLEGAL BUS STATIONS

LUSAKA COMMUTTERS

Some commuters in Lusaka have called on the government to institute a statutory instrument which will urgently address the mushrooming of illegal bus stations in the central business district.

The increase in the number of illegal bus stations and some individuals posing as party cadres allegedly terrorize law-abiding drivers, has influenced Capital Buses Proprietor Ishmael Nkankara to threaten the closure of Millennium Bus Station to result in over 500 job losses.

And about 5 weeks ago, a meeting with Cabinet Ministers was held over the matter in which reconvening was supposed to be done after 2 weeks but it has not taken place.

And those talked by 5fm news in Lusaka, have demanded that the government takes immediate action and ensure that illegal bus stations are curtailed.

Efforts to get a comment from the Ministry Of Transport And Communications proved futile by broadcast time.
