MALANJI ARRIVES IN MADAGASCAR AS THE COUNTRY GOES TO THE POLLS TOMORROW

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Joe Malanji has arrived in Antananarivo, Madagascar to head the SADC Electoral Observer Mission for the Republic of Madagascar.

 

And Mr. Malanji met SADC Special Envoy to Madagascar’s elections, former President, His Excellency Joachim Chisano and the Director of SADC Organ, Ambassador Jorge Cardozo.

 

Mr Joe Malanji is accompanied of the alternate SADC Electoral Observer Mission in the Republic of Madagascar, Dr. Katele Kalumba and Zambia’s Ambassador to Madagascar Emmanuel Mwamba.

 

Director of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence, Peace and Security, Ambassador Jorge Cardozo gave a comprehensive brief to Mr. Malanji.

 

Madagascar goes to Presidential Polls on Wednesday 7th November 2018 while Parliamentary elections will be held in April 2019.

 

The Polls have attracted 36 candidates that include four(4) former Presidents; Hery Rajaonarimampianina, Andy Rajoelina, Marc Ravalomanana, and Didier Ratsiraka.

 

A second round is expected as no candidate is predicted to 50+1 in the first run. The second run is scheduled to be on 29th December 2018.
