Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo has warned millers who have been tasked to stabilize the price of mealie meal across the country to immediately do so or risk facing the wrath of the law.
The Food Reserve Agency recently offloaded some quantity of maize to selected millers who are supposed to offer mealie meal at an affordable price to citizens.
Speaking in an interview with 5fm news, Katambo has however clarified that government has no pre-determined mealie prices for millers who have gotten maize from the private sector.
A 25-kilogram bag of Breakfast mealie meal is currently selling in the range of 105 Kwacha and 120 Kwacha in some retail shops.
