The Alliance for Community Action has appealed the decision by the Police in Lusaka to the Minister of Home Affairs for preventing them from holding a peaceful demonstration to Parliament Building on Friday this week.

But according to a letter by the Police to the organization seen by 5fm news, police say the activity coincides with the presentation of the 2019 national budget by finance minister Margret Mwanakatwe, hence they could not allow them to proceeds.

Organization Executive Director Laura Miti told 5fm news that they intend to protest against corruption and mismanagement of public resources among other issues affecting the nation.

According to the Police there will be several stakeholders at parliament, hence the move poses security risks, thus advising them to settle for a different day but Miti thinks otherwise.
