According to the United Nations- UN habitat, the national housing deficit stands at 1.5 million units and is projected to double by 2030.

Civic Forum on Housing in Zambia Executive Director, Grace Mtonga believes that once the housing deficit is addressed, outbreak of water-borne diseases such as cholera will be curtailed.
