Local Government Minister Charles Banda has revealed that appropriate action will be taken against all local authority officials who have been suspending business licenses without following the laid down procedures.
Dr. Banda has expressed displeasure with the manner in which local authorities are operating which he said has attracted complaints from various business owners thereby compromising the business environment.
The Minister says the situation is regrettable and has since warned all Councils across the country to ensure they follow the rules and regulations before suspending any business licenses.
Recently, Lusaka city council mayor Miles Sampa and some local authority officials have been seen conducting on-site inspections on mostly foreign-owned businesses who allegedly been discriminating and mistreating some Zambians and have had their business licenses suspended.
