PF FAILS TO RETAIN ROAN PARLIAMENTARY SEAT

The Opposition National Democratic Congress has won the Roan constituency parliamentary seat after its candidate, Joseph Chishala polled 8665 votes against his closest rival of the ruling Patriotic Front, Joel Chibuye who got 5533 votes.

 

Chama Mwansa of People’s Alliance for Change got 210 votes while Banda Morgan of the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia polled only 143 votes.

 

The Roan Constituency seat fell vacant after Chishimba Kambwili was expelled from the ruling PF.

 

Announcing the results FROM 43 Polling stations at 01:45 hours, Roan Constituency Returning Officer Emmanuel Makulila says out of the 14,701 ballots cast, 150 were rejected as invalid.

 

And speaking after being declared winner, the NDC candidate, Joseph Chishala has pledged to work for the people of Roan.

 

In Bahati Constituency, PF candidate Charles Chalwe has polled 11,481 votes to beat UPND’s Justine Bwalya who got 2,381 votes.

 

Clement Mwila of the UPPZ got 1,337 votes while Isaac Lukwesa of the PAC scored 176 votes.

 

Meanwhile the PF has scooped the Chilyapa Ward election in, Mansa District after their candidate, Musuku Njikho scored 2005 votes beating Chanda Garagan of the UPND who got 477 votes.

 

The Ruling party has also won the Muyondoti Ward election in, Mitete District with its candidate Muyembe Kahinga getting 746 votes and Kayamba Mwangala of the UPND scoring 689 votes.

 

Further, the PF has scooped the Muchinga Ward, Chama District election after its candidate Aphet Mumba got 799 votes beating Peter Kangwa of the UPND who only polled 179 votes. CC-5FM-
