Higher Education Minister Professor Nkandu Luo has lost her ministerial position after Lusaka High Court Judge Edward Musona nullified her Munali Parliamentary Seat on account of violent activities in the Constituency ahead of the 11th August General Elections.
Professor Luo was declared winner after polling 38, 356 votes while Upnd’s Doreen Mwamba who petitioned the results came second with 24, 207 votes.
And High Court Judge Mathew Zulu has also nullified the election of George Imbuwa as Independent Member of Parliament for Nalolo Constituency in Western Province due electoral irregularities and malpractice.
Patriotic Front Candidate Kaywala Mundia who came third with 4,455 votes in the 11th august parliamentary election petitioned the results.
Mr. Imbuwa Had Obtained 5,060 Votes While Belinda Muntanga of the Opposition United Party for National Development got 4,879 votes.
And Upnd Members who were gathered at the high court jubilated when news reached them that Professor Luo has lost the parliamentary seat.
When reached for Comment Party Spokesman Charles Kakoma has expressed excitement at the ruling made by the high court.
Meanwhile Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes Executive Director Boniface Cheembe believes the outcome will send a message to politicians to conduct free and fair campaigns.
