The Opposition Alliance of more than 10 Political Parties has threatened to pull out of the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue Provided the ZCID Board does not stop disparaging the Three Church Mother Bodies.

Speaking during a press briefing Opposition Alliance Chairperson for Media and Finance Sub Committees, Sean Tembo has advised the ZCID to reform and stop issuing unpalatable remarks against the church.

Tembo adds the church does not only has the moral authority to lead the dialogue but also objective in the manner it is handling the dialogue process.

“Should ZCID continue not to cease and desist from disparaging the three church mother bodies, should they continue acting in a dishonourable manner, then we are going to keep all options on the table, including pulling out,“ Tembo warned.

And the Opposition Alliance also accused the Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue of being funded to derail the dialogue process and silence the opposition political parties.

Speaking at the same event chairperson for the alliance, Charles Milupi explained that political parties have not formed an alliance in order to seek popularity.

“When you see us coming together, it is not because of the small parties have nothing to do, they want to hide under somebody else that is not true, what has brought us together are issues affecting the nation, ”Milupi explained

“We have seen that since the creation of the Alliance, certain people their job has changed from being the Pf media [director] to just attacking the alliance, which is very healthy”.

Milupi says the formation of the alliance is in the interest of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue has described as malicious and baseless the allegations that it is being used by the patriotic front government to slow down the dialogue process.

ZCID Spokesperson Jackson Silavwe advised the political parties who aggrieved to use proper channels to air their grievances.
