The government has acknowledged that the media is a critical stakeholder in the execution of the seventh national development plan.

Minister in the office of the vice president, Sylvia Chalikosa notes that, the media remains crucial in monitoring progress and inadequacies in fostering national development.

She said this during a policy and monitoring media workshop, under the theme “the role of the media in the implementation of the seventh national development plan”.

Meanwhile policy monitoring and research centre executive director Bernadette Deka highlighted continued commitment in building the capacity of media practitioners to improve on developmental reporting.

Deka is impressed that policy think tank has been receiving overwhelming support from the media fraternity creating awareness on government policies.
