THE ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE LECTURED ON HUMAN RIGHTS

HUMAN RIGHTS

The Human Rights Commission has urged the Zambia Police Service to release Loveness Mwale, wife to the police officer who allegedly shot dead his colleague in Lusaka.

Human Rights Commission Spokesperson Mweelwa Muleya says the victim has complained to the Commission that she was brutally apprehended by police officers in three vehicles on Friday last week and taken to Chelston Police Station where she was detained.

Meanwhile Muleya adds that on Monday this week, the Commission discovered that Mwale accompanied Police Officers to Mongu to help track down her husband, Edwin Kabasiya, the Police Officer alleged to have shot dead constable Lennox Kapila.

Muleya says the act by the police is a violation of her constitutional right to liberty as enshrined under Article 13 of the Constitution of Zambia.
