Tourism and arts minister Dr Charles Banda has told 5fm that he has not received information from the Zambia tourism agency on the cancellation of the Zambia travel expo and Livingstone international culture and arts festival this year.

The Zambia tourism agency has revealed that the two tourism promotion events aimed at boosting the country’s tourism potential in the region which were slated for 9th to 11 may 2019 will not take place due to inadequate funding.

But Dr Banda explains to 5fm in an interview that the ministry of tourism will make follow-ups to find out with the ministry of finance on the status on the funds they can release to host the two events.

He adds that the cancellation of the events might have a negative impact on the tourism sector.
