The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia has urged unsuccessful applicants in the recent teachers recruitment exercise to be innovative and utilize their skills to generate revenue by venturing into activities such as setting-up tuition centres.
Only 2009 out 27 thousand teachers were recruited in the recent exercise by the Teaching Service Commission reflecting high unemployment levels.
Organization Executive Director Aaron Chansa is of the view that the Ministry Of Commerce Trade and Industry together with other stakeholders should assist teachers with financial support in order for them to be entrepreneurs in the education sector.
And minister of general education David Mabumba acknowledged that limited employment opportunities for teacher remain a challenge.
