The University of Zambia Lecturers and Researchers Union (UNZALARU) is disappointed that the government has embraced the trend of missing deadlines for the payment of salaries.

This follows the repeated delays in the disbursement of the salaries for the university of Zambia members of staff with the latest being the month of June.

UNZALARU Secretary-General Dr Kelvin Mambwe has further stressed that the delay in disbursing salaries has a negative bearing on the general operation of the institution.

In the meantime, Dr Mambwe has wondered why Higher Education Minister Professor, Nkandu Luo has maintained that lecturers at the higher learning institution should be innovative and find ways to settle their own salaries.
