Zambia joins the rest of the world in commemorating World Water Day which falls on 22 March under the theme ‘Leaving No One Behind.

In line with this year’s theme, the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO) is this year rolling out the rural water supply and urban on-site sanitation and faucal sludge regulatory frameworks which were launched in June 2018.

The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Regulatory Framework aims to ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water and adequate sanitation in the rural areas is accelerated, including the promotion of safe hygiene practices, to protect the public and the environment.

NWASCO Public Relations Communications Manager Mpunga Simukwai reaffirmed the council’s commitment to improving urban on-site sanitation.
