State House says the upcoming 2018 Beijing summit of the forum on china-Africa cooperation (FOCAC) provides a unique opportunity to further boost cooperation between China and the African Continent.
Presidential spokes person Amos Chanda says it will also offer an opportunity for Zambia to better understand China and for the two sides to lift their relations to higher levels.
Briefing journalists at State House this afternoon Mr Chanda says the private sector has been accommodated in this trip with the view of forging partnership with Chinese companies.
He says President Edgar Lungu anticipates to sign more trade agreements during the summit scheduled for September third and fourth in Beijing, which is themed “china and Africa: toward an even stronger community with a shared future through win-win cooperation.”
He has also confirmed that a delegation of ministers led by finance minister Margret Mwanakatwe is already in China over debt structuring.
The head of state will be back in the country on the 7th of September 2018.
