An organization whose focus is to promote private investment in the agricultural market has predicted that the country is likely to lose out on some foreign exchanging earnings following revelations that maize production for 2019 will drop by 16 percent.

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that Maize production is forecast to decrease to 2,004,389 metric tonnes from 2,394,907 metric tonnes produced last season.

In an interview with 5fm news Musika Managing Director Reuben Banda who could indicate how much will be lost also explains that at household level farmer’s income will equally reduce. Production.

He is concerned that this will lead to farmers facing difficulties to re-invest in crop production in the forthcoming farming season.
