The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission-CEEC-has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Technical Education Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority-TEVETA aimed at fostering broad-based economic empowerment.

The African Development Bank funded project will focus on cassava commercialization with 12 thousand farmers as well as enhance the industrial formation strategy in the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, CEEC Director General Likando Mukumbuta says one of the Cassava plantations which has already been set up in Kalumbila district will produce about 12,000 metric tonnes of cassava starch annually.

Meanwhile, TEVETA Director General Cleophas Takaiza says the authority will facilitate skills and capacitate local citizens to strengthen corporation towards development.
