The Zambia medicines regulatory authority has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring that all medicines put on the Zambian market for use by citizens conform to the prescribed standards.
ZAMRA Director Medicines Control Zuma Munkombwe told a media briefing that 10 out of 390 medical products including the famous Chinese pill failed quality tests and have been taken out of the market.
He says the authority will work with stakeholders such as the Zambia bureau of standards so that the exercise can yield positive results.
And on the Chinese monthly contraceptive pill the medical practitioner explained that says the suppliers need to register it in order to be sold on the Zambian market and upon meeting the all the conditions.
Dr. Munkombwe added that ZAMRA has also partnered with organizations such as the world health organization to ensure products that cannot be tested locally are done abroad.
Meanwhile Dr Munkombwe has reminded Medicine producers on the need to engaging the authority in order obtain permission when introducing a medical product on the Market.
